The Panch Badri are five temples of Lord Vishnu in the Badri form, all lying along the Alaknanda river in Chamoli district. Badrinath, the Char Dham shrine, is the best known. The other four are smaller and far quieter: Yogdhyan Badri at Pandukeshwar, where the Pandavas’ father Pandu is said to have meditated; Bhavishya Badri above Subhain village, which tradition holds will become the main seat of worship when Badrinath becomes unreachable; Vridha Badri at Animath, where the Lord was worshipped as an old man; and Adi Badri near Karnaprayag, a cluster of ancient stone temples protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Completing all five is a satisfying pilgrimage for Vishnu devotees who have already done the Char Dham and want to go deeper. Our five-day plan uses Joshimath as a base for three nights, which keeps the daily drives short and lets the group rest properly at a moderate altitude. The only walking is at Bhavishya Badri, where a forest path of a few kilometres leads up from the roadhead; the other four temples are reached by car.

Badrinath is open roughly from late April to mid-November (23 April to 13 November in 2026), and Yogdhyan Badri serves as the winter seat of its utsav murti, so this circuit is planned for the summer and autumn months. Adi Badri and Vridha Badri remain open through the year. The 2027 Badrinath dates will be announced on Basant Panchami and we will update this page then.

Good to know before you book

• Badrinath is a Char Dham shrine, so every traveller must register on the Uttarakhand Government portal before the yatra. We help you complete it.
• Badrinath lies at about 3,100 metres and Joshimath at about 1,900 metres. Older travellers generally find this circuit far easier than Kedarnath as there is no long walk.
• Bhavishya Badri needs a walk of roughly 3 to 6 km each way through forest from the roadhead near Subhain; the distance depends on how far the vehicle can go. This part can be skipped by those who prefer to rest in Joshimath.
• The drive on day one is long (around 270 km, eight to nine hours). We stop for tea and lunch on the way.
• Carry warm clothing for Badrinath, where early mornings are cold even in June.
• Monsoon months (July and August) see landslides on the Rishikesh–Badrinath highway; May, June, September and October are the recommended months.
