Char Dham Helicopter Yatra 2027 from Dehradun

This yatra is for families who want to visit Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath but cannot spend two weeks on mountain roads. Instead of long drives through the Garhwal hills, you fly between the dhams in a small charter helicopter, so the full circuit fits into six days and five nights, starting and ending in Dehradun.

The helicopter seats are arranged through a licensed charter operator that flies from the Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun. Our role is to plan the yatra around those flights: hotel stays, meals, helipad transfers, the palki or pony at Yamunotri, registration help and a coordinator who stays in touch with the operator about weather and timings. Charter flights in Uttarakhand run only in daylight and only when the weather is safe, and the operator has the final say on every take-off.

Each day is built around one dham. You fly to Kharsali for Yamunotri, to Harsil for Gangotri, to the Sersi area for the short shuttle to Kedarnath, and then on to Badrinath before flying back to Dehradun. Walking is limited to the Yamunotri path (covered by palki or pony) and short distances at each temple, which makes this format suitable for many elderly yatris who are otherwise in reasonable health.

Helicopter yatras have strict weight and luggage rules because small aircraft fly close to their limits at these altitudes. Please read the notes below and the FAQs before booking, and tell us each traveller’s correct body weight at the time of enquiry.

Good to know before you book

• Every yatri must be registered on the Uttarakhand Government’s official Char Dham registration portal; helicopter boarding is allowed only with a valid registration and the same photo ID used for booking.
• Charter operators set a body-weight allowance per passenger (commonly around 75 kg) and charge extra per kg above it. Exact limits and charges are confirmed by the operator at booking and shared with you in writing before you pay.
• Luggage is restricted to one small soft bag of a few kilos per person. Hard suitcases are not carried on the helicopter; extra bags can stay at the Dehradun hotel.
• Flights operate only from sunrise to sunset and are held back in bad weather. A delay can push a dham visit to the next day or add a night; such extra costs are explained in the inclusions and exclusions.
• Departure dates for the 2027 season will be added once the temple opening dates are officially announced.
• Seats on charter helicopters are limited and are usually confirmed only against an advance payment, which we confirm when you book.
