Highlights & Route
Badrinath and Joshimath are two of the handful of Divya Desams that lie in the north, and this four-day yatra from Haridwar lets you see both without a rushed schedule. Most road packages try to reach Badrinath in a single day from the plains; we deliberately break the journey at Joshimath on the way up and again on the way down. This gives elderly yatris a night to settle at about 1,900 m before they sleep at Badrinath, and it keeps every day’s driving within sensible limits on hill roads.
The route follows the Alaknanda valley through Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag and Chamoli, so you watch the river narrow and the mountains rise as you travel. At Badrinath you have a full morning for a dip in the Tapt Kund hot spring, darshan of Badri Vishal and a short drive to Mana, the last village before the border, where the Vyas Gufa and the Bhim Pul are a short walk apart. On the return, Joshimath’s Narasimha temple and Adi Shankaracharya’s Jyotirmath are visited at leisure.
This is a road yatra, run only during the months the temple is open (roughly late April to early November). Rooms, vehicle and the Uttarakhand yatra registration are arranged by us; you carry your ID, warm clothes and your medicines. The package starts and ends at Haridwar; pickup from Rishikesh or Dehradun (Jolly Grant airport) can be arranged on request.
Route
Haridwar → Devprayag → Rudraprayag → Karnaprayag → Joshimath → Badrinath → Mana → Joshimath → Haridwar
Good to know before you book
- Badrinath temple is open only for about six months a year. The 2026 season opened on 23 April; the 2027 opening date is announced on Basant Panchami (February 2027) and we will confirm it before you travel.
- Registration on the Uttarakhand Tourism portal (registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in) is compulsory for every yatri; we complete it for you using the ID details you share.
- Badrinath is at roughly 3,100 m. The night at Joshimath on the way up helps the body adjust; anyone with heart or breathing conditions should take a doctor’s advice first.
- Day 1 is a long drive of about 270 km that can take 9 to 10 hours with stops, so an early start from Haridwar is a must.
- Mobile network, ATMs and petrol pumps are limited beyond Joshimath; carry some cash and keep phones charged.
- Hill roads can close for a few hours after rain or landslides, especially in July and August. Keep a buffer day if you have a fixed train or flight.
