Highlights & Route
Nine days is the shortest sensible time in which to do the full Kailash yatra, parikrama included, and Lucknow is the most convenient starting point for pilgrims from north and central India. You travel by road to the Nepal border at Rupaidiha, fly from Nepalgunj to Simikot, hop by helicopter to Hilsa and cross on foot into Tibet at Purang. No long drives across the plateau, no Kathmandu detour.
The programme keeps one rest day at Purang before the lake and one night at Darchen before the walk, which is the minimum we consider responsible. The three walking days cover the classic circuit: Yam Dwar to Dirapuk under the north face, the crossing of Dolma La at about 5,630 m past Gauri Kund, and the gentle finish to the road head. Pilgrims who are not walking wait at Darchen and still have darshan of the mountain.
A yatra manager travels with you from Lucknow to Lucknow and a Tibetan guide joins at the border. All meals are pure vegetarian. Visa, permits, flights and helicopters are in the price; GST and TCS are extra, as with every overseas package.
Route
Lucknow → Nepalgunj → Simikot → Hilsa → Purang (Taklakot) → Lake Mansarovar → Darchen → Yam Dwar → Dirapuk → Dolma La → Zuthulpuk → Darchen → Purang → Hilsa → Simikot → Nepalgunj → Lucknow
Good to know before you book
- The price shown is per person on sharing basis; 5% GST and TCS on overseas tour packages are added at billing. TCS can be claimed back against your income tax.
- You need an Indian passport valid six months beyond return, given to us roughly a month before departure for the Chinese group visa. The group enters and leaves Tibet together.
- After the June 2026 MEA advisory, we do not let any yatri start from Lucknow until Chinese visa and permits are issued.
- Simikot and Hilsa flights are weather-dependent; keep two spare days at home and avoid fixed onward bookings from Lucknow on Day 9.
- The parikrama is a genuine high-altitude trek. Ponies can be hired at Darchen for the climb, paid locally in cash (Chinese yuan).
- 2027 batch dates and the Nepal-route pilgrim quota will be shared when you enquire; the quota filled quickly in 2026.
