Highlights & Route
Bali’s temples are arranged, by tradition, so that the island is guarded on every side: Uluwatu on the south-western cliff, Tanah Lot in the sea to the west, Ulun Danu Beratan by the mountain lake, and Besakih high on Mount Agung in the east. This five-day programme follows that geography. Each day takes one direction from your hotel in the south of the island, so that you see the major temples of Bali without long doubling back, and return every evening to the same room.
The second day is the Bukit peninsula: Pura Luhur Uluwatu, perched some 70 m above the Indian Ocean, with its resident monkeys and the option of the Kecak fire dance at sunset, followed by the white sand of Padang Padang beach. The third day climbs to Bedugul for Ulun Danu Beratan, the lake temple at about 1,200 m, pauses at the Candikuning market for strawberries and spices, and descends to Tanah Lot for the evening. The fourth day is the longest and most rewarding: Besakih, the mother temple, then the holy springs of Tirta Empul and the terraced rice fields of Tegallalang on the way back.
An English-speaking local guide accompanies the temple visits and explains the layout of a Balinese pura, the meaning of the split gate and the tiered meru, and how the daily offerings are made. Breakfast is included every day; lunches and dinners are left open so you can eat as you prefer, and your guide will point out pure-vegetarian and Indian restaurants. The last morning is free for shopping or rest before the airport transfer.

Good to know before you book
- Indian passport holders can take Indonesia’s Visa on Arrival (IDR 500,000 per person, about USD 30, 30-day stay, extendable once). It can be bought at Bali airport or applied for in advance as an e-VoA at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
- Every arriving passenger must submit the free All Indonesia arrival card at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id within 72 hours before landing. Bali also charges a one-time tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per person (lovebali.baliprov.go.id), which can be paid online before you fly.
- Balinese Hindu temples require a sarong and sash for all visitors; most big temples lend or rent them at the gate. Shoulders should be covered, and by local custom women who are menstruating are asked not to enter temple courtyards.
- Temple entrance fees and offerings are paid on the spot in rupiah and are not included in the package price; they are modest, generally under IDR 100,000 per temple per person.
- Uluwatu’s monkeys snatch spectacles, caps and phones. Keep loose items in a zipped bag and avoid eye contact with them.
- Day 4 involves about six hours of driving in total. We leave early so that Besakih is seen before the midday crowds and heat.
