Highlights & Route
Where our five-day family tour stays close to Port Blair, this six-day plan goes further out to sea. You spend two nights on Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) and one on Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep), which means slow mornings, beaches at sunrise and sunset, and the feeling of actually living on an island rather than visiting one. It is the plan we suggest for couples, for parents who want to recover from a wedding season, and for anyone who simply wants to switch off.
Havelock gives you the three beaches people come to the Andamans for. Radhanagar on the west coast is the famous one, wide and calm; Kalapathar on the east coast is lined with black rocks and is quiet in the early morning; and Elephant Beach, reached by a short boat ride, has the easiest snorkelling in the islands, with coral a few metres from the shore. Neil Island is smaller and slower still, with its natural rock bridge, Laxmanpur sunset point and Bharatpur’s shallow lagoon.
The itinerary includes the islands’ small temples too: the Radhakrishna temple on Havelock, the Shiv and Durga temples on Neil and the Hanuman temple in Port Blair. They are modest shrines, but visiting them is part of how these islands live, and many of our yatris like to begin and end a holiday with a darshan. Ferries between islands are private air-conditioned catamarans, and every night’s hotel is reached within half an hour of the jetty.
Route

Good to know before you book
- No permit is needed by Indian citizens for any island on this tour; carry a government photo ID. Foreign nationals receive a Restricted Area Permit at Port Blair airport on arrival.
- Travel season is October to May. Between June and September ferries are frequently cancelled and the sea is unsafe for snorkelling.
- Elephant Beach is reached by a 20-minute boat from Havelock jetty; the boat and the snorkelling are paid locally, and the trip is called off in rough weather.
- Ferry timings are decided by the operators and change seasonally; the day’s schedule in your itinerary is finalised when tickets are issued.
- Neil Island has a handful of hotels and a small market; carry cash, as card machines and ATMs are unreliable there.
- Scooter hire, water sports, entry tickets and guides are not part of the package price.
