Highlights & Route
Ayodhya is where the Ramayana begins. For most yatris today the first wish is darshan of Ram Lalla in the new Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, but the town around it holds much more: Hanuman Garhi on its mound, Kanak Bhawan with its gold-ornamented images of Ram and Sita, the palace site of Dashrath Mahal, and the ghats on the Saryu where the evening aarti is sung. This yatra gives you three nights in Ayodhya so that none of this has to be rushed.
A short drive south lies Nandigram, where Bharat is said to have ruled on Shri Ram’s behalf for fourteen years, keeping his brother’s sandals on the throne. The tank and temple at Bharat Kund mark that spot, and many families also perform pind daan here. From Nandigram the route continues to Lucknow, the state capital, where the yatra ends with a day among the Nawabi monuments and a drop at the airport or railway station.
Darshan at the Ram Mandir is free, and we help you understand the pass system, the timings and the strict rule about leaving phones and bags behind. The days are planned so that the main temple visits fall in the early morning, when queues are shorter and the heat is less, and the afternoons are kept lighter for elderly travellers.
Route
Ayodhya (3 nights) → Nandigram (Bharat Kund) → Lucknow (1 night) → drop at Lucknow airport or railway station
Good to know before you book
- Mobile phones, cameras, bags, belts and electronic items are not permitted inside the Ram Mandir complex. Free lockers are available near the entry, but it is simpler to leave everything at the hotel and carry only an ID card.
- Darshan is open to all without a pass. Free passes for aarti and for a fixed darshan slot are issued by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust through its official website only; nobody can sell you a pass.
- Ayodhya has its own airport (Maharishi Valmiki International Airport) and Ayodhya Dham Junction railway station; both are a short drive from the temple area.
- On Ram Navami, Diwali, Kartik Purnima and the anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha (22 January), the town is extremely crowded and special darshan arrangements may be suspended.
- Nandigram is about 15 km from Ayodhya on the Sultanpur road, and Lucknow is around 135 km away, roughly three hours by road.
- Summer (April to June) is very hot in this part of Uttar Pradesh; October to March is the most comfortable time.
