Online puja at a glance

An online puja is a puja performed at a tirtha in your name and gotra while you join by video from home. A local priest takes your sankalp, performs the ritual with full samagri, and you receive a video or live link and prasad by courier. We arrange Rudrabhishek, jaap, katha, dosh nivaran, Ganga puja, asthi visarjan and pind daan at ten sacred places. Most pujas take a single sitting of one to three hours and can be booked for any date, subject to the priest's availability and the temple season.

Which online puja is right for you?

Choose by purpose. Rudrabhishek and Mahamrityunjaya jaap are offered for health and peace; Satyanarayan katha and Ganga puja for thanksgiving and family occasions; Navagraha and Kaal Sarp pujas when an astrologer has advised a remedy; and asthi visarjan, pind daan and tarpan for departed family members. Every puja is priced on request because samagri, the number of priests and the date affect the cost.

How our online puja works, step by step

  1. Enquire and choose a date. Use the form, call or WhatsApp. We check the priest's availability for your date, including Mondays, Purnima, Pradosh or Shravan if you wish.
  2. Share the details. Full names of everyone the puja is for, your gotra, the purpose, and the postal address for prasad. For Navagraha and Kaal Sarp pujas, also send the date, time and place of birth.
  3. Check the sankalp confirmation. We send the date, approximate time and the names exactly as the priest will read them. Correct any spelling before the day.
  4. Join the puja. Watch on a live link or receive a video the same day. At Kedarnath and Badrinath, mountain networks are patchy, so the video may arrive by evening.
  5. Receive prasad. Prasad, and for some pujas Ganga jal, a raksha sutra or a written sankalp sheet, is couriered to one address in India.

If you do not know your gotra, the priest uses Kashyap gotra, as is customary. Our guide to how online puja works explains sankalp, gotra and prasad in more detail.

What an online puja can and cannot include

We want you to know exactly what you are booking:

  • No sanctum video. Photography is banned inside Kedarnath, Badrinath, Kashi Vishwanath and most major sanctums. Your video shows the sankalp and the puja performed by our priest outside the garbhagriha or at a nearby shrine, not footage from inside.
  • We are not the temple committee. Our pujas are performed by local priests we work with. Official temple pujas, such as BKTC pujas at Kedarnath and Badrinath or the Kashi Vishwanath trust's Rudrabhishek, are booked on those temples' own portals. If you want one as well, we can help you apply; temple charges are passed on without mark-up.
  • Bhasma Aarti seats cannot be bought through us. Mahakaleshwar issues Bhasma Aarti permission only on its official website and app, in the devotee's own name. Our Ujjain puja is a Rudrabhishek and sankalp performed in the same pre-dawn hours.
  • Kaal Sarp Shanti at Trimbakeshwar has always been done by the town's purohits outside the sanctum, and that is how we arrange it. It is a one-morning puja, different from the three-day Narayan Nagbali.

Seasons and dates that affect your booking

  • Kedarnath is expected to close for winter on Bhai Dooj, 11 November 2026. Until it reopens in 2027, our Kedarnath Rudrabhishek is performed at Omkareshwar temple, Ukhimath, the winter seat of Kedarnath.
  • Badrinath closes for winter in November, on a date fixed by the temple on Vijayadashami. In winter, our Badrinath puja is performed at the Narsingh temple in Joshimath.
  • Har Ki Pauri: the Ganga canal is closed every autumn from around Dussehra to Diwali for cleaning (in 2026 until 8 November). The aarti continues, but asthi visarjan in that window is done at a flowing point of the river.
  • Pitru Paksha 2027 runs from 15 or 16 September (by regional calendar) to Sarva Pitru Amavasya on 29 September 2027. Gaya, Prayagraj and Haridwar shraddh dates fill early; book in advance.
  • Mahashivratri 2027 falls on 6 March 2027, and Shravan Mondays are the most sought-after days for Rudrabhishek and Mahamrityunjaya jaap.

Online pind daan, tarpan and asthi visarjan

For shraddh rites, the family member performing them joins by video while the purohit guides each step and makes the offerings at the river. At Gaya the rite covers the Falgu, Vishnupad and Akshayavat; at Prayagraj it is done at the Triveni Sangam; and at Haridwar at Kushavarta ghat, with Narayani Shila on request. For asthi visarjan, the asthi can be handed to us in Dehradun or Haridwar, or sent by a reputed courier in a sealed container; we confirm receipt on WhatsApp before scheduling. Only natural materials go into the Ganga. Where your family has a record with a Haridwar tirth purohit, an entry can be made in the bahi register.

Online puja for NRIs

Families abroad can join the live link from any time zone; tell us your country so we can suggest a puja time that suits you. The priest needs names and gotra in writing, exactly as you want them read. Prasad courier is included within India; addresses outside India can be served at extra cost where the destination country allows the items.

Frequently asked questions

Is an online puja as valid as being there in person?

In tradition, the sankalp is what binds a puja to the person: the priest states your name, gotra, place and intention before the ritual. That is done in full in an online puja. Many families also see it as a way for elders, NRIs or those unwell to stay connected to a tirtha they cannot reach.

What details do I need to give for an online puja?

Full names of the people the puja is for, gotra, purpose, preferred date and a postal address in India for prasad. For dosh nivaran or Navagraha pujas, add the date, time and place of birth. For pind daan, give the names of the departed, and the relationship to the person performing the rite.

What if I do not know my gotra?

Kashyap gotra is used when the family gotra is not known, as is customary in Hindu ritual. If an elder in your family may know it, it is worth asking before the puja, but not knowing it does not prevent the puja from being done.

Will I see a live video from inside the temple?

No. Major temples such as Kedarnath, Badrinath and Kashi Vishwanath do not allow photography inside the sanctum. You will see the sankalp and the puja performed by our priest outside the sanctum or at a nearby shrine, either live or as a video sent the same day.

How long does it take to receive prasad?

Prasad is packed and sent by courier after the puja, and we share the tracking number on WhatsApp so you can follow it. Delivery time depends on your pin code and the courier. From Kedarnath and Badrinath, and on big festival days, dispatch can take a day or two longer. International courier, where possible, costs extra and can take several weeks.

Can online pind daan be done during Pitru Paksha?

Yes, and it is the most requested time. In 2027, Pitru Paksha is from mid-September to Sarva Pitru Amavasya on 29 September. Purohits at Gaya and Prayagraj are very busy then, so share the names and tithi of your ancestors early to secure your date.

How much does an online puja cost?

Each puja is priced on request, because the cost depends on the samagri, the number of priests, the jaap count and the date. We send a written quote that lists the priest's dakshina, samagri, video and prasad courier before you pay anything.

Are you the official temple booking service?

No. We are a yatra organiser in Dehradun working with local priests at each tirtha. Official temple pujas are booked on each temple's own portal, and we can help you apply for those separately. We never claim temple status, and we will tell you plainly if a puja you want is only available through the temple itself.

Tell us the puja, the purpose and your preferred date, and we will send a written quote and sankalp confirmation. Use the enquiry form on this page or call/WhatsApp us; our numbers are on the Contact page. You can also read this page in Hindi: ऑनलाइन पूजा.
