About this puja
At Badrinath the morning begins with the abhishek of Badri Vishal, and through the day priests recite the Vishnu Sahasranama, the thousand names of Vishnu. Families sponsor these for prosperity, for a peaceful mind, for the well-being of children and parents, and often in memory of someone who loved this Dham. This online puja brings the sankalp and the recitation to those who cannot travel: the elderly, NRIs, and anyone unable to reach the Dham in its short season.
Badrinath, in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on the banks of the Alaknanda, is one of the four Char Dham of India and the last of the Uttarakhand Char Dham circuit. The black shaligram image of Vishnu in padmasana is said to have been reinstalled here by Adi Shankaracharya, and the temple’s chief priest, the Rawal, traditionally comes from Kerala. The temple opens in late April and closes in November; in winter the worship moves to the Narsingh temple at Joshimath.
How our online puja works: you share the names and gotra of your family and your intention. On the agreed date our priest at Badrinath takes the sankalp in your name, offers the abhishek dravya and recites the complete Vishnu Sahasranama for your family. You receive a video of the sankalp and the path, and prasad from the Dham is sent to your address by courier. In winter the same puja is performed at Joshimath, the winter seat.
Who performs it
The puja is performed by Badrinath-based priests we have worked with over several yatra seasons. We are a Dehradun yatra company, not the temple or its committee, and we do not claim official status. The Maha Abhishek inside the sanctum is performed only by the temple’s Rawal and pujaris and is booked through the Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). If you want the official Maha Abhishek ticket in your name as part of this service, we arrange it and pass on the temple’s charge as it is.
Good to know before you book
- Badrinath opened on 23 April 2026 and is reported to close for winter on 16 November 2026, as decided by the temple priests on Vijayadashami. From then until spring, worship continues at the Narsingh temple in Joshimath, where our winter pujas are performed.
- The temple’s own Maha Abhishek and Abhishek pujas take place in the early morning, roughly between 4:30 and 6:30 am, and official bookings need registration on the BKTC portal with an Indian mobile number.
- Photography and videography are not permitted inside the sanctum, so the video you receive shows the sankalp and the Sahasranama recitation, not the sanctum rituals.
- In April 2026 BKTC announced restrictions on special pujas at Badrinath and Kedarnath for crowd management; if an official puja slot is unavailable on your date, we tell you in advance rather than promising it.
- Prasad courier within India is included; abroad is possible at extra cost, limited to dry items most countries accept.
- Please send names and gotra in writing and check the spelling; the priest reads exactly what you send.
