Kashi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya form the great pilgrim triangle of Uttar Pradesh, each a few hours’ drive from the next. This package follows that triangle in five days and times the Varanasi part to Dev Deepawali, the night of Kartik Purnima when every ghat on the Ganga is lit with lamps. You spend two nights in Varanasi, see the festival from a reserved seat on a large bajra boat, and then move on to the Sangam at Prayagraj and the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya in the quieter days that follow.

Day 1 is a round of the city’s temples, from Kaal Bhairav and Sankat Mochan to the New Vishwanath temple at BHU and Durga Kund. Day 2 is the festival: Kashi Vishwanath and Annapurna darshan in the morning, Ratneshwar Mahadev at Manikarnika, and the evening on the water with deep daan, the Maha Aarti, laser show and fireworks. Day 3 takes you to Prayagraj for the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam and the temples around it. Day 4 is the drive to Ayodhya, the Nageshwarnath temple and the Saryu aarti at Ram Ki Paidi. On Day 5 you have darshan of Ram Lalla and visit Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and Dashrath Mahal before the yatra ends in Ayodhya.

Breakfast and dinner are included throughout, transfers are by private AC vehicle, and hotels are booked well ahead because the festival dates fill up early. The route is one-way, Varanasi to Ayodhya, so you can book a flight or train into Varanasi and out of Ayodhya and avoid backtracking. Our coordinators manage the temple rules, lockers and darshan passes at each city, which matters most for elderly yatris in festival crowds.

Good to know before you book

Dev Deepawali 2026 is Tuesday, 24 November, so this departure arrives in Varanasi on 23 November; the 2027 festival is on Saturday, 13 November.
Boat seats on the festival night are capped by the administration and sold in advance; life jackets are compulsory and the walk to the boarding ghat is through closed roads and crowds.
Phones and bags are not allowed inside Kashi Vishwanath or the Ram Mandir; both have lockers at the gates. Sugam Darshan at Kashi Vishwanath is not sold on festival days.
Ram Mandir darshan is free and runs through the day with a midday break; aarti passes are issued free by the temple trust against ID and are limited to small numbers per aarti.
Sangam boat fares in Prayagraj are paid directly to the boatman; panda dakshina for tarpan is also direct.
Late November is cold in the early mornings and on the river; carry warm layers for the boat and the dawn darshans.

Day 1 :

Arrival in Varanasi and the city's temples

Our driver meets you at your arrival point (airport, railway station or hotel) at the agreed time (Babatpur airport, Varanasi Junction or Banaras station) and takes you to the hotel. After check-in and rest, we begin a round of Kashi's temples: Kaal Bhairav, the guardian of the city, then Sankat Mochan Hanuman temple in Lanka, the New Vishwanath temple on the tree-lined BHU campus and Durga Kund. If time permits we cross the river to Ramnagar Fort on the far bank. You will see the ghats being prepared for the festival, with lamps being arranged on the steps. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 :

Kashi Vishwanath and Dev Deepawali on the Ganga

Start early for the Kashi Vishwanath Dham, before the festival-day queue builds: darshan of the Jyotirlinga, Maa Annapurna and Dhundhiraj Ganesh in the same complex, then a walk down to Manikarnika Ghat for the leaning Ratneshwar Mahadev temple. Breakfast at the hotel afterwards and a free afternoon to rest.

By about 4 pm our coordinator walks you to the boarding ghat (Shivala or Assi; roads close in the afternoon). On the bajra each guest has a reserved seat and a life jacket. As the lamps are lit, the pandit on board leads the Ganga puja and deep daan. The boat moves along the glowing ghats, holds position for the Maha Aarti at Dashashwamedh, and stays out for the laser show and fireworks. Tea and a snack box are served on board. Late dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 :

Varanasi to Prayagraj, Sangam snan

After breakfast, check out and drive about 120 km (roughly 3 hours) to Prayagraj. Go straight to the Triveni Sangam, where a boat takes you to the meeting line of the Ganga and Yamuna for the holy dip or a sprinkling of the water, and tarpan with a panda if you wish.

Nearby are the reclining Bade (Lete) Hanuman temple, the Akshayvat and Patalpuri temple corridor inside the fort (as the army permits), Mankameshwar Mahadev on the Yamuna bank and the Alopi Devi Shakti Peeth. If time allows we stop at Swaraj Bhawan or Anand Bhavan, the Nehru family homes that are now museums (closed Mondays). Check in and dinner at the hotel.

Day 4 :

Prayagraj to Ayodhya, Saryu aarti

After breakfast, drive about 165 km (4 to 5 hours) to Ayodhya. Check in and rest. In the evening we visit the Nageshwarnath temple, said to have been founded by Kush, son of Shri Ram, and then walk to Ram Ki Paidi on the Saryu for the evening aarti and, when it is held, the light and sound show on the ghats. If you want an aarti pass for the Ram Mandir next morning, our coordinator helps you apply with your ID tonight. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 :

Ram Lalla darshan and departure

Leave early for the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. Phones, cameras, pens and bags must be left in the lockers outside; carry only your ID. Darshan of Ram Lalla is free and the morning queue moves steadily. Afterwards visit Hanuman Garhi, where tradition says the first prayer in Ayodhya should be offered, then Kanak Bhawan with its gilded idols of Ram and Sita, Dashrath Mahal and the Sita Ki Rasoi shrine.

Return to the hotel for breakfast and check-out. The yatra ends with a drop at your departure point (airport, railway station or hotel): Ayodhya Dham Junction is about a kilometre from the temple and Maharishi Valmiki International Airport about 11 km away.

Do we take a holy dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj on this package?

Yes. On Day 3 we drive about 120 km from Varanasi to Prayagraj and go straight to the Triveni Sangam. A boat takes you out to the meeting line of the Ganga and Yamuna for the dip or a sprinkling of water, and tarpan with a panda if you wish. The boat fare and panda dakshina are paid directly. Bade Hanuman and the Akshayvat corridor follow the snan.

When is Dev Deepawali, and which date does this package run on?

Dev Deepawali falls on Kartik Purnima, the full moon about fifteen days after Diwali. In 2026 it is on Tuesday, 24 November, and in 2027 it falls on Saturday, 13 November. This package runs only on that date each year (the longer versions start a day or more earlier), so seats and rooms are limited and are confirmed strictly in order of booking.

What exactly happens on Dev Deepawali in Varanasi?

On the evening of Kartik Purnima every ghat from Ravidas Ghat in the south to Rajghat in the north is lit with earthen lamps, more than ten lakh of them in recent years, in honour of the gods who are believed to descend to the Ganga that night. The Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is performed on a grand scale, and the state tourism department has in recent years added a laser show on the Chet Singh Fort wall and a fireworks display over the river. The tradition of lighting the ghats in its present form began at Dashashwamedh Ghat in 1991 and has grown every year since.

What is a bajra, and is the boat safe?

A bajra is a large, flat-bottomed wooden or steel boat, often with two decks, that carries 30 to 50 people and moves slowly along the ghats under motor power; it is far steadier than the small rowing boats. Each guest has a reserved seat and a life jacket, and the district administration limits the number of passengers per boat on Dev Deepawali night. Boats board in the late afternoon and stay on the water until the fireworks end, so expect to be aboard for three to four hours.

How do we get a Ram Mandir darshan or aarti pass?

General darshan at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir is free and needs no pass; you walk in through the security check with your ID. Aarti passes are also free, issued by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust online and at its camp office against ID, and are limited to a small number of people per aarti. Our coordinator helps you apply the evening before. Nobody is authorised to sell passes.

Can we carry phones and bags into Kashi Vishwanath?

No. Mobile phones, cameras, bags, belts with metal buckles and leather items are not allowed inside the temple. Free lockers are available near the gates, but it is simpler to leave phones and bags with our coordinator or in the vehicle and carry only your ID and some cash for offerings.

Can the yatra run in the reverse direction, Ayodhya to Varanasi?

Not for the Dev Deepawali departure, because the boat night must fall on Kartik Purnima and the Varanasi hotels are fixed for those dates. Outside the festival we offer the same triangle in either direction; see our regular Kashi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya yatra.

Is the price per person and what does it depend on?

Yes, the displayed price is per person on twin sharing in the standard hotel category, before GST. It includes the festival boat seat, which is a large part of the cost. Single occupancy, higher hotel categories and children’s rates are quoted on request, and the exact quote is confirmed before you pay the advance.
