Highlights & Route
The Panch Kedar are five Shiva temples in the Garhwal Himalaya, and each one is linked to a different part of the Lord as told in the Mahabharata story of the Pandavas. Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Tungnath, Rudranath and Kalpeshwar sit in separate valleys of Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts. Completing all five in one yatra is something many Shiva devotees hope to do at least once.
This package covers all five temples in a single loop from Haridwar. Four of the temples can only be reached on foot. The walks to Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar and Rudranath are full-day mountain treks, Tungnath is a shorter but steep climb from Chopta, and Kalpeshwar needs only a short walk from the road head. Our team handles the driving, the overnight stays, the meals and a guide on the trek days, so your family can give its attention to darshan.
Four of the five temples (Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Tungnath and Rudranath) shut for winter, usually around October or November, and their deities are worshipped at lower winter seats until the doors reopen around April or May. Kalpeshwar stays open all year. This yatra can therefore only run in the summer and autumn months. 2027 opening dates are announced each year by the temple committee, and we will add them here once they are official.
This yatra is best for pilgrims in good walking health. If an elderly family member cannot manage the longer treks, call us. Kedarnath has pony, palki and helicopter options, and we can suggest which parts of the route suit your group.

Good to know before you book
- About 16 km one way on foot to Kedarnath from Gaurikund, roughly 16 km to Madhyamaheshwar from Ransi, about 3.5 km to Tungnath from Chopta, and around 20 km to Rudranath from Sagar village.
- Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Tungnath and Rudranath close in winter. Kalpeshwar is the only one of the five that stays open all year.
- Kedarnath is part of the Char Dham, so every yatri must register on the Uttarakhand Government registration portal before travelling.
- The Rudranath trail passes through a protected forest area, and a forest department permit is needed. We help arrange it.
- Nights at Madhyamaheshwar and on the Rudranath trail are spent in basic camps, homestays or simple lodges. Hot water and phone signal are limited.
- July and August bring heavy rain and landslide risk on these roads. May–June and mid-September–October are the most comfortable windows.
