Nepal Wild Nature Tour Package

6 Days

Highlights & Route

Not every family trip to Nepal has to be only darshan. This programme gives three nights to Kathmandu’s temples and heritage squares and two to Chitwan, the World Heritage national park in the Terai where one-horned rhinoceros graze in the grasslands and, with luck, a tiger crosses the track. It is a popular combination for families with children and for groups who want a holiday wrapped around their Pashupatinath visit.

Kathmandu covers Budhanilkantha, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Patan Durbar Square. The drive to Chitwan follows the Trishuli river down to the plains, about five to six hours, to a resort near Sauraha on the edge of the park. A full day in the jungle includes a jeep safari, a dug-out canoe drift on the Rapti river past crocodiles and water birds, a visit to the elephant breeding centre and a guided walk, and the evening brings a Tharu cultural dance at the lodge.

Chitwan’s park is best from October to March, when the grass is cut and animals are easy to see; April and May are hot but good for sightings at waterholes. The yatra returns to Kathmandu for a last night and free afternoon before the airport transfer.

Route

Kathmandu airport → Budhanilkantha → Pashupatinath → Boudhanath → Swayambhunath → Patan → Chitwan (Sauraha) → Jeep safari, Rapti canoe, elephant breeding centre, Tharu village → Kathmandu → Kathmandu airport
