Muktinath Dham Yatra

5 Days

Highlights & Route

Nepalgunj, just across the border from Rupaidiha in Bahraich district, is the entry point for yatris from Lucknow, Gonda and western UP. It is also the base for our Kailash flights, so this Muktinath programme is often combined with a Kailash aerial darshan. From Nepalgunj a morning flight reaches Pokhara, and from Pokhara the familiar Jomsom flight and jeep ride lead to Muktinath Dham.

At about 3,700 m in Mustang, Muktinath is sacred to Vaishnavas as one of the 108 Divya Desams and to Buddhists as Chumig Gyatsa. The bath under the 108 brass spouts and in the two kundas, darshan of Lord Muktinath, and the natural flame at the Jwala Mai shrine take about two hours; we are back in Jomsom by early afternoon, before the valley wind picks up.

The yatra closes in Kathmandu with a full day for Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Patan Durbar Square, and ends with an airport transfer for your flight home, or a road transfer back to Nepalgunj if you came by train to Nanpara or Bahraich. Pokhara’s Devi’s Fall, Gupteshwor cave, Bindhyabasini and Tal Barahi fill the first afternoon.
