Privacy Policy

About this policy

Yatra to Temples, trading as Yatra to Temples (“we”, “us”), respects the privacy of every yatri. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we need it, who we share it with and what choices you have.

We aim to handle personal data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025. The Rules were notified in November 2025 and come into effect in stages, with most obligations applying from May 2027. We will update this policy as these requirements take effect.

What we collect

  • Enquiry and call-back forms: your name, phone number, email, the yatra you are interested in, travel dates, group size and any message you send.
  • WhatsApp, phone and email: the messages, photos and documents you choose to send us while planning your yatra.
  • Booking and registration details: names, ages, gender, addresses and contact numbers of yatris, and copies of identity documents (such as Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID or passport) needed for yatra registration, permits, helicopter tickets, hotels and visas.
  • Health information: only where you share it with us or a route requires a medical certificate, for example for Adi Kailash or Kailash Mansarovar.
  • Payment records: details of bank transfers or UPI payments made to us. We do not collect card details on this website.
  • Website usage: basic technical data such as device type and pages visited, as explained in the cookies section below.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and call you back.
  • To plan, quote and arrange your yatra.
  • To complete government registrations, permits, helicopter bookings, hotel check-ins and visa applications on your behalf.
  • To keep in touch with you before and during travel, including safety updates.
  • To keep accounts and meet tax and legal requirements.
  • To send you news about future yatras, only if you agree. You can say no at any time.

We use your data based on the consent you give when you contact us or book, and for other purposes allowed by law. You may withdraw consent at any time, but we may then be unable to provide some services.

Who we share it with

We share only the details needed for each service:

  • Hotels, camps and guest houses where you stay.
  • Transporters, drivers and local guides.
  • Government registration and permit systems, such as the Uttarakhand yatra registration portal and the SDM office for inner line permits.
  • Helicopter operators and the IRCTC HeliYatra portal.
  • Visa authorities and our partners in Nepal or Tibet for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
  • Our accountants, IT service providers (for example, website hosting, email and WhatsApp), and authorities where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for 12 months and booking records for 8 years, or longer if the law requires (for example, for tax records). Copies of ID documents are deleted within 90 days after your yatra ends, unless we need them for a legal reason.

How we protect it

We take reasonable care to protect your data, including limiting access to staff who need it, using password-protected devices and accounts, and deleting documents we no longer need. No system is completely secure, but if a data breach affects you, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

  • Access: ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correction: ask us to correct or update details that are wrong or incomplete.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data when it is no longer needed, unless we must keep it by law.
  • Grievance: raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer, and if you are not satisfied, approach the Data Protection Board of India.
  • Nominee: name someone to exercise your rights if you are unable to.

To use any of these rights, write to our Grievance Officer below. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses essential cookies needed for it to work. If we add visitor statistics (such as Google Analytics), the data is anonymised and used only to understand which pages are useful. We do not use advertising cookies.

Our website is meant for adults. Details of children travelling with their families are collected only from a parent or guardian, and only as needed for the yatra.
